Dover e Hijos, (Dover and Sons) is the business entity founded by Jay C. Dover, currently doing business in Costa Rica as a builder of high quality homes.

Jay Dover started working in construction in Providence Rhode Island in the early 70s, and has over the years mastered or familiarized himself with virtually all of the building related trades. He has had the opportunity to work in several parts of the US where high quality construction is the norm, such as Santa Fe New Mexico, Malibu California, Newport Rhode Island, and Marthaís Vineyard Massachusetts. Along the way he was employed working as lead man constructing homes for notable discerning people such as Robert Redford, Dustin Hoffman, and Steven Spielberg. Starting in 1987 Jay began working in Costa Rica, and at that time built the first two homes constructed in Playa Langosta in Tamarindo. Since that time he has devoted about ten of the last twenty years on projects here in CR.

Since then he has completed over a dozen homes and businesses here in northwestern CR with the emphasis on customer satisfaction over profits, knowing that ones reputation is the best advertising that money canít buy.

But we will also advise you as to which styles of dwellings make more sense here, and which ones donít. If you are operating within a certain budget, we will usually try to convince you to build a smaller, more nicely appointed home, rather than a larger one with less attractive details. In short, our aim is to deliver to you a home that fits your expectations and needs, and retains lasting value due to its superior craftsmanship, and attention to aesthetics. All of our work comes with a written warrantee against any defects. Normally we donít get any callbacks, but if we do, we take care of the problem free of charge.

Looking over our achievements and resumeí you may conclude that we are high priced compared to other builders, but that is actually not the case. Over the years we have managed to refine our management style, and by motivating our employees with a production bonus, our projects are completing in less time than most of our competitors. Many larger homes here typically take a year to complete, but we can usually produce a good finished project within 7 months or so. Construction prices starting at $55 / square foot.
